Overview
The Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster captures the distinctive style and sound of Fender's iconic 1960s offset guitars. Designed by Fender, this vintage-inspired electric guitar combines classic Jazzmaster aesthetics with player-friendly features, making it an excellent choice for indie, alternative, surf, shoegaze, rock and experimental music.
A pair of Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups delivers the bright, articulate character associated with the Jazzmaster, offering everything from clear, shimmering clean tones to expressive sounds that work beautifully with modulation, reverb and fuzz effects. The traditional dual-circuit electronics provide additional tonal flexibility, allowing players to switch between the lead circuit and a dedicated rhythm circuit.
With its comfortable C-shaped maple neck, Indian laurel fingerboard and vintage-style floating tremolo, the Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster offers classic offset character at an accessible price. Its vintage-tint gloss neck finish, aged-white pickup covers and nickel-plated hardware complete the authentic retro aesthetic.
Key Features
Playability and Comfort
The Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster features a slim, comfortable C-shaped maple neck designed for an easy playing feel across chords, rhythm parts and lead passages. The 9.5-inch fingerboard radius provides a familiar modern playing surface, while the 21 narrow-tall frets support accurate fretting and expressive string bends.
Its 25.5-inch scale length delivers the familiar string tension of a traditional Fender electric guitar, while the offset Jazzmaster body provides a distinctive playing position whether standing or seated.
Tonewoods and Construction
The poplar body provides a balanced foundation for the guitar's overall tone, while the bolt-on maple neck offers a familiar feel and responsive playing experience. The Indian laurel fingerboard adds a classic dark contrast to the maple neck, complemented by white dot inlays.
The vintage-tint gloss urethane neck finish gives the instrument a subtly aged appearance inspired by original 1960s Fender designs.
Electronics
The guitar features two Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups, voiced to deliver the distinctive clarity, articulation and versatility of classic Jazzmaster tones.
-
Neck Pickup: Produces warm, rounded tones suited to clean playing, mellow rhythms and expressive lead work.
-
Bridge Pickup: Delivers brighter, sharper tones ideal for cutting through a mix and creating crisp, articulate parts.
-
Lead Circuit: Provides master volume and master tone controls, with a three-way selector for neck, neck-and-bridge, and bridge pickup combinations.
-
Rhythm Circuit: Activated using the upper slide switch position, this circuit selects the neck pickup and provides dedicated thumbwheel volume and tone controls.
-
Alnico Single-Coil Pickups: Deliver dynamic response and a clear, expressive character that works particularly well with effects pedals.
Hardware and Setup
The Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster is equipped with a six-saddle vintage-style floating bridge and non-locking vibrato system, allowing players to add expressive pitch movement and subtle shimmer. Barrel-style saddles provide traditional Jazzmaster styling, while vintage-style tuning machines offer smooth, familiar tuning adjustment.
Nickel-plated hardware complements the guitar's vintage-inspired appearance, and the instrument comes fitted with nickel-plated steel strings in .009–.042 gauges.
Design Details
The Jazzmaster's distinctive offset body shape, four-ply tortoiseshell pickguard and aged-white pickup covers create an unmistakable vintage aesthetic. The Tahitian Coral finish adds a vibrant colour accent, while the vintage-tint maple neck and nickel-plated hardware reinforce its 1960s-inspired character.
