The Best Student ‘First’ Flute Available Today... Just Got Even Better!
NOW BENEFITING FROM AN IMPROVED DESIGN & PREMIUM FEATURES! The only student flute to feature French-style pointed key arms!
This wonderful ‘first’ flute for the new player or those returning to the instrument after a few years away is now benefiting from design improvements that, up to now, have been exclusively reserved for Trevor James ‘Privilege’, ‘Chanson’ & ‘Virtuoso’ step-up and professional flute models.
The TJ10XP flute continues to be a very free blowing and high-quality silver-plated instrument with a 925 silver lip plate and riser. It now benefits from a pointed key arm mechanism instead of traditional ‘Y’ arms.
Ideal for players progressing through Intermediate Grades 1-3.
Setup in the UK by experienced TJ Technicians:
And don’t forget, each Trevor James 10XP Flute is crafted to exacting standards with the best components from around the world, with a final hand set-up in our UK technical workshops based in Kent, south-east England.
A Game-Changing 925 Silver Lip Plate and Riser:
The 10XP flute has a specially shaped lip plate & riser that gives the new, or returning player, the benefit of having an immediate & free blowing sound, especially in the lower tonal range. Plus, the ‘925’ silver delivers a warmer sound and an extended range of tonal possibilities.
The lower notes are notoriously hard for the new player as it involves most if not all keys being depressed, so the air stream is at times, is right down at the bottom end of the flute. This ‘Shaped’ lip - unique to the TJ 10XP - opens up the lower register and gives a huge advantage over other student flutes because it’s not only easier to play in general, but it’s actually easier to get a great tone too.
A 925 Silver Lip Riser to help build 'your' sound:
The 925 silver lip plate /riser on the Trevor James 10XP flute is an alloy that consists of 92.5% pure silver with a small portion of copper and other metals added in order to harden the material for use in flute making. The specific character of 925 silver makes it an ideal metal for flute making and is used by both manufacturers of professional student flutes. The use of 925 silver for a flute player offers a colourful, flexible and resonant sound with a deeper timbre and wider available tonal range compared to the standard silver-plated only lip and riser headjoint as used on other student flute models. It’s unusual for a first, entry level flute to have a 925 silver lip plate and riser due to the extra cost of the additional precious metal content, however as flute specialists, Trevor James flutes understand the need to invest positively in your ‘first’ flute as it is your ‘sound’ - and the headjoint in particular - which is the single most important factor in your development and future progression as a musician. Adding a 925 silver lip plate and riser demonstrates our desire to give you the tools to unlock and develop ‘your' very own, unique flute sound.
French-style pointed key arm mechanism: 10XP flutes feature French-style pointed key arms. The key-arms are the parts of a flute which connect the keys to the body of the flute. Traditionally reserved for much more expensive flutes, French-style pointed key arms feature an arm that extends to the centre of the key and helps to strengthen the mechanism, making for a stronger and tighter key placement, which means no leaks and squeaks. These key arms also result in excellent note intonation; reward speedy playing; and aid the development of faster techniques - so you’ll be well-placed to take on those more challenging pieces.
